MOSAIC - Mobile Worker Support EnvironmentsDescription
The MOSAIC Specific Support Action is funded by the European Commission under the IST 6th Framework programme, Strategic Objective “Applications and Services for the Mobile User and Worker”, Call 2 (FP6-IST-2003-2 004341). The key objective of MOSAIC is to accelerate innovation in Mobile Worker Support Environments by shaping future research and innovation activities in Europe. ObjectivesMOSAIC develops scenarios and roadmaps for mobile and location-aware working, builds strategies for deploying innovative mobile work technologies and applications in sector domains, and starts up initiatives for joint research and innovation. The important challenge for our future economy and society is to establish human-centric and highly flexible work environments where technology is in the background and people are on the foreground. MOSAIC explores business and societal innovation, thus preparing Europe for deploying innovative mobile technology in a range of application domains to support mobile workers in distributed and location-sensitive settings. Key areas addressed by MOSAIC are: Healthcare and Wellbeing, Life-Cycle Management sectors like building, construction, and manufacturing, and Rural and Regional Work Environments. MOSAIC works closely with the New Working Environments Unit within the European Commission to shape future Framework Programmes and establish communities in the area of Ambient Intelligence (AMI) @ Work, covering the three key innovation domains as well as strategic “horizontal” knowledge areas such as collaboration, mobility and knowledge. |
