Burma-X is a RTD project within the Growth program. The project refers to Key Action I, Innovative Products, Processes and Organisation, TRA 1.7 ‘Extended Enterprise’ in particular. The consortium consists of a variety of technology providers all focusing on innovative software solutions.  The user consortium, an full value chain around a manufacturer of dyehouses, has recognised the need of the extended enterprise concept in order to facilitate the following:

• Development and production across company boundaries.
• Provision of high level (cross-organisational) after sales services.
• Definition and execution of cross organisational business processes.

Participants seek to develop and validate a unique, knowledge based Web platform for extended manufacturing enterprises. The services offered within the Business Relationship Portal will enable important optimisation of the business to business communication. Furthermore the Portal enables extended operating of manufacturing processes.  Set up of new business models and service to service relationships therefore are an integral part of the research project.
